As part of our mechanical engineering service, we use computer-aided engineering (CAE) programs to perform design and analysis processes, including 3D computer-aided design (CAD). Using CAE programs, the mechanical design can quickly and cheaply be iterated so the design process to develop a product can better meet cost, performance, and other constraints. No physical prototype need be created until the design nears completion, allowing many designs to be evaluated, instead of a relative few. In addition, CAE analysis programs can model complicated physical phenomena which are not practical to be fully solved by hand, such as viscoelasticity, complex contact between mating parts, or non-Newtonian flows.
